Those people think that an art fair is the vendors at Union Square during the holiday season.
But I can't decide how I feel about this quote. It sounded very anti-art on first hearing. (And this is in a store where you can buy "art" for $40!) But if this woman really intended to buy some paint and cardboard and decorate her walls accordingly, more power to her!
A real art lover covets the object. It is a love affair.
How about...Why would someone buy a reproduction when you can own original art on any budget?
I blame HGTV. They are corrupting peoples minds. I always think that their projects must look like crap in person. Gluing cardboard to the walls? and.." I painted your couch brown. Doesn't it look like leather? I only spent $15 on a can of paint from the mis mixed shelf. A leather couch would have cost $3000."
A few years ago, when I was trying to decide what color to paint my walls, I painted some pieces of plywood in different shades of blue and propped them against the walls. More than one person mistook them for "art."

I bet those people don't see why they should spend $20 to attend an art fair, either. I'm wondering about that too.

That cracks me up! I'm going to try that on my style-conscious friends when they're out of town.
It works great if you're vegetarian and don't want leather furniture, too!
